Pizza Sauce Pasta

Pizza sauce pasta is exactly what it sounds like. It mixes pizza sauce together with pasta. This is a great way of using up any leftover pizza sauce you may have lying around in the fridge. The pizza sauce will give the pasta all the the garlic, tomato and oregano flavors that it has in it.

I usually make this recipe a day or two after I have cooked homemade pizzas using my Easy No Cook Blender Pizza Sauce. This recipe helps me use up any leftover sauce, as it normally makes too much sauce for the amount of pizzas we eat at home.

I have used spaghetti this time I will use any type of pasta that we have in the house, such as penne which is often used as well. This recipe is both vegetarian and vegan friendly (if served without cheese). Use gluten-free pasta to make it gluten-free and egg-free pasta to make it egg-free. Avoid serving with cheese to make it dairy-free.

Making Pizza Sauce Pasta

The base of this pasta recipe is my Easy No Cook Blender Pizza Sauce, which is quick and easy to make. Follow that recipe to make the uncooked pizza sauce used in this recipe. Any uncooked pizza sauce will work though, or if using an already cooked pizza sauce, then you only need to heat the sauce through.

Uncooked pizza sauce

This is an uncooked pizza sauce so we want to cook the sauce down a little bit. This will cause the sauce to nicely coat the pasta when mixed together.

To do so bring the sauce to a simmer in a small saucepan, on medium heat. Once starting to simmer reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes until nice and thick. Stir it occasionally to stop the sauce burning on the bottom. Once the sauce is nice and thick, remove from the heat.

Cooked pizza sauce

Mix the cooked sauce together with some cooked pasta in either a large bowl or one of the saucepans used to cook the pasta or sauce (this will obviously depend on saucepan size).

Serve the pasta on its own or topped with some freshly grated cheese or cracked black pepper. The pasta goes great on its own, with a side dish or it even works as a side dish. A tasty side dish to have with is garlic bread.

Storage

For best storage, store the pasta in an air tight container or zip-lock bag. It should last 4-5 days in the fridge like this. You can also freeze it, if desired, and it will last 6-8 months, making this a great meal for batch cooking. If making this to freeze and eat later, consider under cooking the pasta to avoid it being over cooked after reheating later.
