Spanish Chicken Wings

These chicken wings have so much flavor to them and are just so easy to make. Marinated in Spanish inspired flavors, these chicken wings are then baked in the oven. Providing a healthy and hassle free way of cooking a lot of chicken wings at once.

The smoked paprika provides the chicken wings with a good amount of paprika taste, without being overpowering, and a nice bit of smokiness. There is also a nice lemony taste that comes through from the lemon juice in the marinade, and a nice amount of heat from the cayenne pepper powder.

This recipe is very allergy friendly and made mostly from combining common pantry ingredients. This makes these wings great for parties or when you need to cater for allergies, with the wings being gluten-free, egg-free, dairy-free and soy-free.

Spanish chicken wings make for great tapas. They also make for a perfect snack, appetizer, party food or even a light meal. The wings go great on their own or with some sides to make them more substantial. A good side to serve them with is some Spanish style rice.

Spanish Inspired Chicken Marinade

The marinade for the chicken wings contains olive oil, lemon juice, smoked paprika, garlic powder, dried oregano, salt, black pepper and a little but of cayenne pepper. Lots of easy to get pantry ingredients.

To make the marinade simply combine all of the ingredients for the marinade together. You can either mix the marinade together in a small bowl beforehand and then add to the chicken wings or you can mix it all together with the chicken wings straight away.

Mix the marinade and the chicken wings together until the wings are well coated in the marinade. Place in the fridge to marinate for at least 15 minutes, ideally leave them marinating overnight for more depth of flavor.

If you don’t have the time to wait for the wings to marinate, you can just cook the wings straight away and they will still have a lot of flavor and taste great. However, the oven does need to preheat so that should at least provide a little bit of marinating time.

It is such a tasty marinade that I would recommend it for other parts of the chicken besides just chicken wings. The marinade tastes also amazing when used on chicken thighs.

Oven Baking Spanish Chicken Wings

These Spanish chicken wings are oven baked. I love oven baking chicken wings, it makes cooking so easy and really minimizes the amount of cleaning required. It is also quite a healthy way of cooking the wings and allows you to cook large batches of chicken wings really easily.

To cook the chicken wings, start by preheating an oven to 425°F/220°C.

Uncooked Spanish chicken wings

Place the marinated chicken wings in a single layer on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Then all you need to do is cook the wings in the oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the chicken wings are golden and cooked through. There is no need to turn the wings during cooking.

If desired, you can place them on top of an oven safe wire rack in the baking tray. The wire rack will stop the wings from sitting in any fat that is rendered out while cooking. However, this is in no way a necessity and won’t have much of an affect on the end result.

Let the chicken wings cool slightly before serving. This will allow the chicken to rest slightly and also stop you from burning your fingers on hot chicken wings.

Storage

For best storage conditions, keep cooked chicken wings in an air tight container. Stored properly the chicken wings can last up to 4 days in the fridge or 6 months in the freezer.

A great idea, for an easy to make snack, is to combine the marinade with the wings and keep them in the freezer until needed. Provides an easy snack, appetizer or light meal that is ready to go. You then only need to defrost and cook the chicken wings.
