Why Roast Tomatoes In The Air Fryer?

Air frying tomatoes is a way to roast them without the use of an oven. As previously mentioned, roasting tomatoes adds complexity to the flavor of the tomatoes and provides alternative ways of serving and eating tomatoes.

Why would you want make roasted tomatoes in an air fryer instead of an oven? Air fryers are quicker. They not only preheat quicker but they also roast the tomatoes quicker.

Other bonuses to using an air fryer over an oven are that an air fryer will generally use less power, and air fryers won’t heat up the rest of the kitchen (like ovens can).

How To Roast Tomatoes in the Air Fryer

Start by preheating the air fryer to 350°F/180°C. When air frying, this is something that you will almost always want to do. It ensures a more even cooking temperature throughout the cooking process (which makes timings a lot easier).

While the air fryer is preheating, wash your tomatoes, cut them in half and add them to a bowl. Then just mix in any herbs, seasonings, oils etc. that you want to use.

Place the tomatoes in the preheated air fryer, with the cut side facing up, and cook the tomatoes for 10-15 minutes. Note that the size of tomatoes and the type of air fryer can add some variability to the cooking time.

That is it! Really simple, no need to turn the tomatoes halfway through or anything. You will want to let them cool slightly before digging in, as nothing will burn your mouth easier than the inside of a cooked tomato!
