Tikka masala chicken wings are a tasty snack to make, packed full of flavor. These wings are oven baked. This means they are a really easy to make snack, requiring minimal cleanup and minimal attention while cooking. Great for any occasion!
Tikka Masala Chicken Wings
These oven baked chicken wings are a great snack or appetizer. They are very allergy friendly, being gluten-free, dairy-free and egg-free. This makes them great for serving at parties where you need to cater for a variety of dietary requirements.
Oven baking the chicken wings is a pretty healthy way to cook them, as it avoids using extra oil. It also helps save on mess/cleanup compared to other methods of cooking chicken wings. You just put them in the oven and leave them alone until they are done (they don’t require constant turning or handling).
Tikka Masala Paste
Tikka masala paste is a combination of spices, tomato paste and oil. It can be found in most supermarkets these days, normally in the Indian section. It contains LOTS of flavor so is going to save lots of time and effort when adding flavor to the chicken, as the paste is already good to go.
Tikka Masala paste will be the marinade for the chicken wings in this recipe. You will want to use about 1 tablespoon of tikka masala paste per pound of chicken wings. The wings should marinate in the fridge for at least 20 minutes if you can, or even better leave them marinating overnight.
Oven Baking Tikka Masala Chicken Wings
Once the chicken wings have finished marinating. Line a baking tray with parchment paper and place the wings in a single layer on top. If you would like you can use a wire rack to keep the wings up off the baking tray. Doing this stops the wings from sitting in the fat that renders out of them while they cook. However there is no requirement to this.
Place the wings into an oven, preheated to 425°F/220°C, to cook for 30-35 minutes. Once they are golden and cooked through take them out and let them cool slightly before serving.
Storage
For best storage, keep the chicken wings in an air tight container or zip lock bag. In the fridge they should last up to 4 days and in the freezer they should last up to 6 months. You can also freeze marinating chicken wings to use later.
