Creamy garlic pasta

Creamy garlic pasta is a very indulgent dish due to the cream and butter. But it just tastes so good and is very quick and easy to make. It is also quite a cheap meal to make and uses only a few easy to get, common ingredients. Creamy garlic pasta can be eaten on it’s own or served with other main and/or side dishes.

Use any type of pasta for this recipe. I Like to use fettuccine or spirals (fusilli) normally but any type of pasta will work just as well. Penne, rigatoni and orecchiette are all good pasta options in my opinion. Something that can be well coated by the sauce is ideal.

Making Creamy Garlic Pasta

This pasta dish is super quick to make. Cooking the pasta is normally the part that takes the longest, with the sauce itself being very quick to make.

To make the sauce start by heating up a frying pan on medium-high heat and then melt some butter in it. Once the butter has melted add in the garlic and rosemary and let them cook for a couple of minutes, being careful not to burn the garlic or butter.

Once the garlic has a tiny bit of color to it, you want to stir in the cream and season with some salt. The amount of salt required depends on taste and how much salt was in the boiling water for the pasta. Bring the sauce to a simmer then turn the heat down to medium-low. Simmer the sauce for a couple of minutes to thicken slightly and then take it off the heat.

Mix the sauce together with the cooked pasta in a large bowl or in the frying pan, if large enough. Serve with some fresh cracked pepper, parsley or grated Parmesan cheese.

Dietary and Substitutions

This recipe is vegetarian friendly. Use dairy-free butter and dairy-free cream in order to make the recipe dairy-free and vegan friendly. Whether the recipe is gluten-free or egg-free depends on whether the pasta used is egg-free and/or gluten-free.

Chicken makes a great addition to this recipe. I find using leftover chicken from Oven Baked Garlic Butter Chicken Thighs tastes amazing and you can add any leftover butter garlic sauce from it to the creamy garlic sauce. I would add in any chicken just before adding in the cream.

Small pieces of chopped up bacon also works quite nicely. Cook it at the beginning and set aside until adding in the cream.

Storing Creamy Garlic Pasta

For best storage, keep the creamy garlic pasta in an air tight container in the fridge. Like this it should last up to 5 days.
