Air Fryer BBQ Chicken Thighs

Equipment

Ingredients
  

  • 4 chicken thighs boneless skin off (approximately 1lb/ 500g)
  • 1/4 - 1/2 cup BBQ sauce (Note 1)

BBQ Spice Rub

  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp smoked paprika can substitute with non smoked
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp salt or to taste
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the air fryer to 400°F/200°C.
  • Meanwhile, mix together all of the ingredients for the rub in a small bowl.
  • Coat both sides of the chicken thighs in the spice rub.
  • Place the chicken into the air fryer basket and cook for 12 minutes, turning the chicken halfway through.
  • Brush the top facing side of the chicken thighs with BBQ sauce and cook for 3 minutes.
  • Flip the chicken, brush the top with more BBQ sauce and cook for another 3 minutes
  • Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before serving warm.

Notes

  1. The exact amount of BBQ sauce is going to vary depending on the size of the chicken thighs and preference. I ended up using a bit over 1/4 cup of BBQ sauce.
